WHAT IS EXERCISE THERAPY? Exercise therapy is a type of physical activity that’s tailored to your unique needs, with a goal of reducing pain and improving function. It’s prescriptive, as opposed to being a general kind of movement. It's delivered by health professionals & movement specialists with a good grounding in anatomy, movement, pain, and how to use exercise to treat and manage certain conditions (usually musculoskeletal or neurological impairments). WHO WOULD BENEFIT FROM EXERCISE THERAPY? Anyone who needs a tailored and more specific approach to their exercise & training, and doesn't feel comfortable exercising among people who don't experience the same barriers to health that they experience. WHO OFFERS THIS SERVICE? We have a team of therapists available to help you train correctly for your needs. Our therapist, Richard, has delivered these sessions to a wide range of groups & individuals, prescribing exercise for groups & individuals with musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiac, and mental health conditions. These include; parkinsons & other neurological conditions, cardiac & stroke rehabilitation patients, post-operative rehabilitation, diabetic & pre-diabetic management, Our second therapist, Rosie, teaches chair-yoga & adapted seated mobility for groups and individuals requiring a more general movement based therapy, complete with breathwork, mindfulness training, and mental wellbeing coaching. Richard and Rosie also look after the health & wellbeing of several groups & homes across Brighton, including partially sighted and blind homes, R.N.I.D specialist accommodation, care & rest homes for the elderly, and disability housing. WHAT DOES THIS SERVICE LOOK LIKE? Sessions are direct out of our studios at Sapien Training, in either the studio, or massage and therapy room(s). The sessions are tailored to your needs, so you could be on a massage couch getting asked to move in detailed ways, or in the gym specifically strengthening any identified areas of weakness or pain.
